Online is such wide and huge world in itself... The World Wide Web! During my childhood I had to turn the whole library upside down for even a single topic! But now, everything is just one click away. Technology!
Social networking has totally revolutionised the lives of many. From entertainment to education, everything one can find.
During my college days, I remember there was Orkut.
Used to be glued to that... The scrapbook... Hmm.. those were some days... Had so much time in my hands! Then, it disappeared... 'On June 30, 2014, Google announced that Orkut would be shutting down completely on September 30, 2014.'
And then, it was an era of Facebook... Add your friends... Chat with them... Share your pictures... Posts ... Pages... Opinions are shared... I think it's evolving still!
Pictures used to be in our albums first. Then when digital camera, smartphones came, it used to be in our memory cards... Gallery... We would share in Facebook or mail. Instagram came as a blessing to many who love to share their moments! Hashtag and your post reached millions all over the world. Followers and you follow and before you know you might be friends with someone on the other end of the world. A vast world in our fingertips!
Then there's Whatsapp... Twitter... And now Telegram etc... It's evolving. The entire world has shrunk to our monitor or even our mobile screen!
Now, for getting opinions, giving suggestions, enquiries, help, news... There's lots of options available! Putting them to use in a good way can make a person's life lot easier!
When I started off with drawing, I was going for classes and also I had downloaded some ebooks that I used to refer and I always found it was easy to understand and learn when you visualise it. What our Sir would teach was easier to grasp than learning by myself with the book. And besides, one tends to be lazy when there's no one to monitor, right!
And, when I revisited it around two months back, my reference was YouTube. And further browsing took me to different sites, blogs, ebooks etc...
Here, I am listing out my references... My inspirations... New discoveries... Kindly consider this as my credits to all those excellent artists and fellows.
1. I think I had somehow come across Gouache painting. And I was looking up those in YouTube when I came across Jenna Rainey channel (https://youtube.com/c/JennaRaineyChannel) ... Watercolor, calligraphy, illustration tutorial channel. That was the first time I saw loose water color painting and was mesmerized. Amazing artist and the videos are extremely informative. Learned and still learning from that.
It's using poster colors and on normal drawing paper.
2. Well, the thing with YouTube or anything Google is suggestions. Among numerous suggestions one other channel caught my interest.
de Winton Paper Co. (https://youtube.com/channel/UCLc91tlwoZD6i_4RXKtCH0Q) by Harriet de Winton, a self taught Watercolor artist... mainly botanical painting. First time heard about Botanical painting (the name took me back to school days where we used to draw flowers.. each part of them separately in Bio Lab!!).
An attempt...
From the first I got a sense of loose painting whereas from the second got to know about the details!
3. Google: Just hit search and numerous articles pop up. For my blogs, I have taken reference from some of them. I hadn't noted down. I think I will start noting down from now on.
That's all for today. Let me make the most of these two channels first!
I will keep updating this as an when required.
